| Cypress Creek Natural Area |
Walking the trails at Cypress Creek Natural Area I heard the rad-a-at-tat and call of a woodpecker off in the distance. Scanning a stand of dead trees I spotted the head motions as he/she pounded on a cypress tree. It was so far off the trail, I was nicely surprised at the images my zoom lens was able to capture.

Excellent! These woodpeckers are difficult to capture.
Beautiful bird.
I just had one of these at my feeder this morning, a frequent visitor.
Our jacaranda tree has a major broken limb which is visited often by woodpeckers. The tree is only about 20 feet from the house, so I have a great view from the second story windows.
Love the Redbellies Woodies, great shots!
I love woodpeckers and their 'song'. Lol. I used to love to hear them when i was little pecking around the trees outside my bedroom. They start EARLY! Lol again. Great photos!
A very handsome fellow! Great shot! xx
That's a great picture. A real classic "I'm a woodpecker" kind of pose!

Great shots. I see them frequently here in Spring Hill at my seed post. They are awesome birds.
Very nice photographs of the male Red-bellied Woodpecker!
I like that shot where the sun hits his head!
I adore woodpeckers. I sometimes knock on trees to see if I can get a response. Fantastic photos.
